Introduction
More Power, More Performance and
Electric Starting Add Up to Even More Fun
With the original KLX110, Kawasaki did to barrels of monkeys
what the automobile did to the horse and buggy - put them right
out of business. One of the most fun-to-ride, kid-friendly bikes
of all time, the KLX has a little secret: adults seem to enjoy
riding it as much as kids do! That's some serious versatility,
and for 2010, the thoroughly re-engineered KLX110 is more versatile
than ever, with more power, more performance and more convenience.
You can still kick-start the KLX110 if you want, but there's
an easier option now: Push-button electric starting makes it
even simpler than ever to get riding. And once that dependable
111cc four-stroke thumper is warmed up, it puts out about 15
percent more torque and horsepower than before thanks to revised
valve timing, a free-flowing new exhaust, a new ignition system
and low-tension piston rings.
There's also one more gear in the gearbox: The new four-speed
provides a wider range of ratios so riders can better exploit
the engine's newfound power. Shifting has been improved too,
thanks to changes to the shift drum and springs. Meanwhile, the
KLX's automatic centrifugal clutch gives novice riders one less
thing to worry about when all they want to do is ride.
More power calls for more control, so a longer shock out back
with a stiffer spring and damping rates to match provides longer,
firmer rear wheel travel and greater resistance to bottoming.
Up front, fork spring and damping settings have been revised
to complement all the other changes, and tapered roller bearings
at the bottom of the steering stem mean more durability.
While they were busy overhauling everything else, the KLX design
team outfitted the bike in all-new bodywork: gas tank, seat,
side panels, shrouds and fenders now mimic the KX450F.
A reshaped seat is part of the deal, too, along with a new handlebar
bend that gives more comfort and control to a greater variety
of riders. Because variety is what the KLX110 is all about. This
little machine will definitely spice up anybody's life.

Features
Air-Cooled, Four-Stroke 111cc Engine
- Revised valve timing, a new freer-flowing muffler, a new ignition
system and lower piston-ring tension add up to 15 percent more
power and torque than before
- Pushbutton electric starting makes it easier than ever to get
rolling, but a reshaped kickstarter that clears the rider's leg
better is there for back-up
- The starter button and kill switch are located on the left
handlebar for easy access
- KACR (Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release) provides easy
starting
- KLX's compact lay-down engine design is perfect for engine
cooling and a low center of gravity
- An ignition timing inspection hole was added for easier maintenance
- A redesigned choke knob on the 18mm carburetor is easier to
grab with gloves on
New Four-speed Transmission
- Four speeds instead of three exploit additional engine power:
While the overall top-gear ratio is nearly the same, that extra
gear is combined with a shorter final drive ratio to effectively
tighten the gaps between each gear, while also widening the available
range of operating speeds
- A rugged, reliable centrifugal clutch teaches entry-level riders
to shift without the distraction of having to operate a clutch
lever
- A redesigned shift drum cam groove and positioning spring,
and a smoother cam surface, result in improved shift feel and
more positive gear engagement
Safety Features and Parental Controls
- The KLX110 will only start in neutral for added safety
- The engine off switch is within easy reach on the left handlebar
- A screw-type throttle limiter allows adult supervisors to control
kids' speed while learning
Expanded Performance Envelope
- 30mm telescopic fork with 4.3 inches of travel is revised to
deal with the new bike's increased performance
- Tapered roller bearings at the lower steering stem add durability
- A new handlebar bend fits a greater variety of riders, along
with a reshaped seat
- A longer rear shock controls the rear wheel through a swingarm
with a lower pivot. Stiffer spring and damping rates control
the rear wheel through 4.3 inches of more firmly controlled travel,
with greater resistance to bottoming
- Lowering the swingarm pivot point accommodates the longer shock
and increased stroke
- 14-inch front and 12-inch rear knobby tires on strong, steel
rims provide great off-road traction and durability, and keep
the seat low
- The rear brake rod is more rigid for better braking and feel
Big KX Style, Built to Last
- The high-tensile KLX steel backbone frame is strong, lightweight
and built to take years of abuse
- Four strategically placed heat shields provide protection from
the exhaust pipe
- A low, 26.8-inch seat height accommodates a broad range of
riders
- Cool new KX450F-style fuel tank, seat, shrouds, side panels
and fenders look fast even sitting still
- KX-style half-waffle grips provide better control
- A convenient side stand makes life easier
Additional Features
- A U.S. Forest Service-approved spark arrester comes as standard
equipment
- The KLX110 meets California "Green Sticker" requirements,
for year-round riding fun
